W406 - Elements of Immersive Learning

Wednesday, February 06 | 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM | Room: 1DE

Session Description:
Learn by being there---that is the promise of immersive learning. Virtual reality, augmented reality, and related technologies offer you powerful new tools, but they also set new traps. This new learning medium requires new development, deployment, and design. Immersive learning is a complex landscape with many overlapping features. Different platforms present different features. Which one is the best fit for your learning challenges, your learning environment, and your development resources? Together we will survey this new terrain feature by feature as you can follow along on your own device. The examples are collected online and load quickly, so you can experience each one yourself while we discuss it.

Application on the Job:
Given a learning objective, you confidently specify the appropriate immersive technologies to employ.
Given a target platform, you thoughtfully scope out learning targets that your team can achieve on it.
Considering your overall upcoming responsibilities and ambitions, you strategize a long term technology adoption path.
